Malgré quelques trouvailles, ce logiciel de réception télé manque de maturité.
Dédié à la réception des chaînes de la TNT (télévision numérique terrestre), The Tube fonctionne avec des tuners USB de différentes marques (Miglia, TerraTec…). Son interface soignée propose une recherche automatique des fréquences, en fonction de son code postal. Principe intéressant pour les nomades car, une fois mémorisés, les réglages des chaînes sont toujours prêts pour les différents lieux de résidence. La nouveauté mise en avant par Equinux est la compatibilité avec iChat Theater : lors d'une vidéoconférence avec iChat, The Tube peut diffuser à l'interlocuteur un programme en direct ou enregistré. This wonder product lets you watch free-to-air digital (ATSC via the included antenna), digital cable (clear QAM) and analog (Cable, Composite Video, S-Video) TV on your computer. You can pause live TV and intelligently resize your TV window while still getting work done in other programs.
One of our favorite features is that the "TubeStick hybrid connects the TV community with its TubeTalk live-chat." Let's say it's a rainy night, you're on a business trip, and you're watching the Yankees kill Pittsburgh. Provided you have an internet connection, you can plug your room's cable into your TubeStick and join a chat about the game with other TV viewers within The Tube. You can even see what percentage of The Tube viewers are watching each available channel!
Now let's say your share house has internet and cable; you can use your computer like a DVR- this way you can watch that awesome episode of 20/20 on the Jitney back to the city!
All in all, TubeStick is a great product for whenever you have down time. In the airport? Use the included antenna to watch TV. In your hotel? Plug in the cable to your computer and record your favorite shows. You can't go wrong with such an ingenious product!

Nul ne pourra dire que la rédaction d'iCreate n'a pas de suite dans les idées. equinux iSale est en effet un logiciel que nous suivions depuis un certain temps mais il a toujours échoué à obtenir sa cinquième étoile. Absence de traduction, comportement parfois erratique : il y avait toujours une bonne raison de refuser à cet excellent logiciel la plus haute note. Autant le dire de suite, cette version 5 (comme 5 étoiles ?) lave iSale de toutes ses tares (...). Cela dit, n'en demandons pas trop, nos notes s'arrêrent à 5 étoiles.Hawk Wings sammelt Vorlagen für E-Mails

Hawk Wings bietet jetzt auch eine Sektion mit Vorlagen für Apples E-Mail-Programm an. Die Seite listet Tipps und Tricks, Plug-ins und Add-Ons für die Apple-Anwendung Mail auf und stellt sie zum Herunterladen bereit. Bislang finden sich dort 122 Vorlagen in verschiedenen Paketen und zu verschiedenen Themen. Die Mehrheit stammt aus dem Hause Equinux und ist kostenpflichtig, die übrigen Vorlagen sind kostenlos. Man findet unter anderem Vorlagen fürs Business, aber auch für große Momente wie Geburten, Weihnachten und Neujahr.

Externe Produkte für Apple zu entwickeln ist risikoreich. Denn sobald der Konzern ein eigenes Angebot dagegenstellt, sind Drittfirmen meist geliefert. Doch Apple-Chef Steve Jobs hat klargemacht, dass er für digitale Videorekorder auf dem Mac nix übrig hat. Früher hielt er sie für überflüssig. Heute interessiert ihn nur der Verkauf von TV-Fernsehsendungen im iTunes-Store.

letzten Wartungsupdate allerdings hat die Software hinzugelernt: Jetzt arbeitet sie auch mit einer
Reihe von Empfängern weiterer Hersteller zusammen, von Terratec bis hin zu Hauppauge.
Wer am Mac fernsehen will, hat jetzt mehr Auswahl. Er kann auch dann die Softwarlösung The Tube verwenden, wenn er keinen Equinux- oder Miglia-Empfänger einsetzt. Acht weitere Geräte umfasst nun die Kompatibilitätsliste des Herstellers: Mit den Empfängern Terratec Cinergy T2, Twinhan DTV Alpha, EyeTV für DVB-T, Digitus DVB-T Digital USB, Freecom DVB-T USB Stick, Hauppauge WinTV-Nova-T-Stick, MSI Technology Digivox mini Mac und Digittrade DVB-T Stick arbeitet The Tube zusammen. Die gleichen Geräte unterstützt MediaCentral 2.8.1.

There's a new USB television capture stick that threatens the dominance of Elgato's Hybrid. The equinux TubeStick adapter paired with The Tube software package offers an interesting alternative for television on your Mac.
So, how does this new contender compare? Check our review, and find out if it is time for a new PVR for your Mac.
TubeStick hybrid from equinux
The TubeStick, paired with its software sidekick The Tube adds flexible and powerful video capabilities to your Mac. Hybrid decoding means you'll be able to record video from digital cable, digital over-the-air (including HD) and analog cable and broadcast. There's an adapter for recording S-Video and RCA video too.
Hardware
The TubeStick has a build one cut above a USB flash drive, which sounds bad but is pretty typical for this product segment. They are all made of plastic. The unit heats up during use, which the manual says is normal. The included antenna does very well, and has a conveniently magnetic base.
The hardware isn't where these adapter's shine, though the TubeStick is very Apple-white and is generously equipt with adapters and cords. With the Elgato Hybrid roughly the same size and form factor, the software is the real differentiating factor.
Software
First, a complaint. The Tube installs with a trial version of MediaCentral. The application sounds interesting - pulling in online media with your own, managing them in one place. What annoyed me is that there is no way to opt out of the install. To ad insult to injury, the installer adds this demoware to your dock. That's personal space.
The application (The Tube) itself has a cool interface, and is pretty easy to use. Recording TV, scheduling recordings and managing recorded clips is easy. The dark look has a very Front Row feel. it also has all the major features - nice on screen display, full-screen, a sometimes-automatic programming guide and Closed Captioning.
I was impressed with a few of the unexpected features. The Tube exports clips to all of your favorite Apple portable devices and syncs with iTunes, but it also allows you to export clips to a web-based TubeToGo account for remote access and sharing. You can stash your recordings on .Mac or an FTP server and access them from your iPhone (or touch). You can also schedule recordings from your iPhone or iPod touch.
The other new and unexpected feature didn't blow me away personally, but others will find it cool: integrated chat. TubeTalk allows you to chart with other The Tube users watching the same show. The social integration doesn't stop there: rankings help you chose programs popular with other viewers and of course, your buddies. You can even 'watch together' with your buddies, even changing channels in sync.
What's missing? I didn't like the programming guide as much as Elgato's TitanTV. TitanTV is much more visual. Also, missing is an easy way to edit out commercials. To edit you have to export your recordings to iMovie.
Conclusions
Going up against a very mature and very Mac-centric EyeTV is tough, but The Tube makes up for some software shortcomings with unique and very Web 2.0 features like online clip sharing and buddy integration.
The TubeStick is as flexible as it gets when it comes to inputs. If the software shortcomings don't bug you, you'll dig this easy TV receiver. You'll need an Intel or G5 Mac and a hundred-some bucks.

Dank „Fernsehen am Laptop“ entgeht einem auch unterwegs kein EM-Spiel. Die OÖN haben zehn DVB-T-Sticks einem Test unterzogen. Den Testsieger gibt es als spezielle EM-Edition.
Auch wenn nun erste Angebote für Handy-TV auftauchen, ist die günstigere und komfor-tablere Lösung immer noch DVB-T am Laptop. Zahlreiche Hersteller bieten entsprechende USB-Sticks an. Mit ihnen wird der eigene Laptop nicht nur zum EM-Ersatzfernseher, sondern oftmals auch zum Videorekorder.
Je nach Softwareumfang lassen sich Sendungen perfekt auf DVD brennen: Das lang erwartete Endspiel kann so ohne großen Aufwand für alle Zeiten festgehalten werden. Und das sogar unterwegs.
Eigene DVDs erstellen
Der Wunsch, Österreich möge doch ins Finale kommen, wird wohl eine Träumerei bleiben. Ein wahr gewordener Traum hingegen sind die durchaus moderaten Preise der DVB-T-Sticks: Die Modelle im OÖN-Testfeld kosten zwischen 35 und 120 .
Platz 1 im Test geht an Pinnacles speziellen EM-Stick (siehe Bild). Das beiliegende Fanmagazin hat zwar Fehler beim Mannschafts-Kader. Dafür zeugen Soft- und Hardware von Qualität. Die kleine Fernbedienung ist eine tolle Draufgabe. Der Preis liegt bei rund 60 .
Auch Platz 2 ist eine EM-Edition: Terratecs „Cinergy Hybrid XE“ bietet zum Preis von 50 eine schicke Optik und eine gute Softwareausstattung. Auch analoge Quellen (Videorekorder) lassen sich anschließen. Achten sollte man, ob das jeweils richtige Kabe beiliegt.
Den 3. und 4. Platz belegen die Sticks von Hauppauge. Während es sich beim „WinTV Nova-T“ mit 35 um eine günstige Lösung bei ansehnlichem Lieferumfang handelt, zeichnet sich „WinTV HVR 900H“ (50 ) durch seine Hybridbauweise aus: Das teurere Modell kann auch analoge Geräte einbinden. Eine Playstation 3 funktionierte im Test ausgezeichnet. Bei der Softwareausstattung ist Hauppauge im Hintertreffen.
Fernsehen auf dem Mac
Auch Apple-Anhänger brauchen nicht auf DVB-T zu verzichten. Ganz wie Windows-User haben sie die Qual der Wahl. Im OÖN-Test überzeugen vor allem die Lösungen von Elgato. Die deutsche Firma legt allen Produkten dieselbe Software bei. Das günstigste Paket „EyeTV“ hat deshalb das beste Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis (50 ). Für die EM-Übertragungen sollte es völlig ausreichen. Wer aber etwa auf eine Fernbedienung Wert legt, muss tiefer in die Tasche greifen.
Im Vergleich zu Windows-Angeboten kostet Elgatos Hybrid-Stick mit ca. 120 deutlich mehr. Dafür fehlt es hier an nichts.
Konkurrent Equinux verfolgt mit dem „Tubestick“ das Ziel, Internet-Technologien wie iChat einzubinden. Die innovative Software des Sticks (40 ) kommt an Elgatos Pendant jedoch nicht ganz heran.
