Why TARMAC?
TARMAC lets you set up as many iPhones and iPads as necessary, without needing to physically connect to a computer. TARMAC operates within your company network and automatically creates personalized user profiles from your existing user data. The TARMAC concept
To generate iPhone configuration files, TARMAC connects with your company's directory service and uses your data to automatically create profiles on the fly. You can use these profiles to change the settings on the iPhone or iPad to fit your company's needs:
Email accounts, calendars, VPN access, WiFi, APN, and whether employees can access certain websites, YouTube, or the built-in camera. You can also require users to meet specific criteria when entering a new password.
As soon as an iPhone or iPad user logs in to the TARMAC web interface, a personalized user profile is created and made available to download and install. TARMAC uses your user database (Active Directory, Open Directory, Open LDAP or MySQL) to set up your company's iPhones and iPads.
SCEP with own Certificate Authority
TARMAC uses trusted certificates to get your iPhone up and running securely. You can use the integrated Certificate Authority (CA) from TARMAC, or specify your own CA to encrypt and decrypt confidential data as it is transmitted. TARMAC allows you to enroll certificates via the SCEP (Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol).
