What settings can be stored in user profiles?
Password and profile requirements

Decide whether your users can remove installed profiles and whether they have to authenticate to do so. You can also set the user profiles to require passwords that meet certain secure criteria.

Access restrictions

Choose as to whether your iPhone and iPad users can surf the web using the Safari browser or restrict access to offensive content. You can also lock the pre-installed YouTube app, the iTunes Music Store and prevent installation of additional apps.

Disable photo functions

In many companies, no cameras are allowed. Therefore you can turn off the iPhone's camera functionality. Even the screenshot function can be disabled in the user profile to help prevent against sensitive information leaving your company.

Store access data

You can save your secure login data in a user profile, including in-house Wi-Fi access, VPN access to internal servers & services and APN account information for mobile data access.

Set up email and Exchange

TARMAC excels in creating email, Exchange ActiveSync and calendar settings. Administrators can enter as many details as necessary, so no technical knowledge is required from end users. TARMAC gathers the relevant information from your directory services and creates personalized profiles: set up CalDAV and LDAP access, or simply pre-define which calendars users are subscribed to.

Create web clips

In TARMAC you can create your own web clips to give your users access to internal databases, files, scripts and more. Web clips are also excellent for pointing to particular iPhone apps and external sites.

Protect your data
Security and certificates

TARMAC uses sophisticated certificate management to set up your iPhone or iPad securely. You can specify your own CA server certificates and Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol (SCEP).

Encrypted communication via SSL/TLS

TARMAC sends all user profile information over the hybrid SSL/TLS encryption protocol, meaning the integrity of your data is ensured at all times. The WPA2 security standard also provides sufficient protection when transferring data over WiFi.

Connect to Virtual Private Networks (VPN)

Gain access to L2TP/PPTP or IPsec based Cisco VPNs by including the settings in user profiles. Control which users can access whichever resources in your company.

Remotely wipe lost devices

TARMAC supports the ability to remotely delete data on lost iPhones and iPads. Using Exchange ActiveSync or Apple's own MobileMe service user profiles can be remotely removed from lost or stolen devices.

Device Reporting

With one button Administrators can export a list of all devices, itentifying information and installed applications. This information can then be easily imported into a number of applications or databases for further review.

From the makers of VPN Tracker

TARMAC is made by the developers of VPN Tracker, the market leading IPsec based VPN client for Mac OS X. TARMAC benefits from our years of experience in security and encryption technologies. TARMAC is the first provisioning solution specifically for the Apple platform, tailor-made for the iPhone and iPad

Supported technologies
Automatic Installer

Initial installation and setup of TARMAC both on Windows and Mac can now be accomplished with a single installer. The one click installer offers direct installation of all components, services and other plugins needed to make device managment possible.

Automatic Configuration

The Automatic Configuration feature in TARMAC offers an extremely quick and easy way to add and create the certificates needed to secure your users' connection and, for those enrolled in Apple's iOS Developer Enterprise Program, quickly enable mobile device management.

Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync

TARMAC Server supports Microsoft Exchange Server. As a result, email, calendar and contacts can be sent to the iPhone or iPad using the push function. In addition, this allows users to search through email directories on the server, send event invitations and select meeting attendees.

Retrieve emails from IMAP mail servers

TARMAC supports settings for email accounts synchronized with IMAP mail servers. Once connected to the IMAP server, users can search through all folders on the iPhone or iPad.

Comfortable and secure roll-out with SCEP

TARMAC Enterprise Server now offers a safer path through the entire provisioning process via the new security module. The TARMAC security module contains its own Certificate Authority (CA) Server. Businesses are then able to benefit from SCEP, without the need for an additional CA server with SCEP add-on.

Certificate management

If you are already running your own Certificate Authority server on your business network, you can set it up to work with TARMAC.

Efficient internal App deployment

Distribute internal applications to employees: With TARMAC's App Catalog, employees can install internal Apps on their iPhones and iPads over the air at any time. Apps can be further restricted to any of the user groups already loaded into TARMAC. If an internal App is not related to a particular group, all employees will have access. For any App restricted to a particular group (or set of groups), TARMAC will require users to login and only show the Apps available for members of that group.

CalDAV compliant server integration

The iPhone OS features an iCal-compatible calendar. All user profiles can therefore also work with iCal Server, Oracle Beehive, Kerio and Zimbra.

LDAP connection for Mail and contacts

TARMAC server supports the following directory services and databases for Mail and contacts: Active Directory, Open Directory, Open LDAP and MySQL. In order to receive their personalized profiles, users need to log in to TARMAC within your company's network.

Multi-lingual Interface

TARMAC is a multi-lingual solution available in English, German and Japanese. Your users can simply switch their system or browser language and the TARMAC interface will be shown in their preferred language or in English per default.
