Network setup

There are many ways that you can use VPN Tracker in your company network. Here are some ideas on how to set it up.

Remote and home users connecting to the network

VPN Tracker is the VPN client that is installed on the remote users workstation and allows secure network connections. This enables safe sharing of files and databases over an encrypted VPN tunnel. You will need either VPN Tracker Personal or Professional on your client Macs and a third party gateway or VPN Tracker Server.

Connecting two Macs

You can easily establish a secure connection between two Mac OS 10.2 or 10.3 computers using VPN Tracker. Simply enter your partner's IP-address and click "start." After a few seconds the connection will be established and all traffic using the standard Internet protocols (e.g. file transfers) will be encrypted. To set this up, you need either VPN Tracker Personal or Professional on both sides.

Securing AirPort WLAN

By using VPN Tracker you can secure AirPort networks instantly. Once installed, all VPN Tracker equipped Macs in the WLAN send their data encrypted to the AirPort station. Therefore, a Professional Edition of VPN Tracker is needed on the wired Mac and for each wireless Mac you need a Personal Edition.

Network tunnels over the Internet

Why use special hardware in your network to setup VPN gateways? VPN Tracker saves a lot of money by connecting two or more offices through a secure Internet tunnel connection, instead of using an expensive hardware solution. Particularly in combination with Mac OS X Server, VPN Tracker is the most economic security tool on the market for VPN connections. For this you need a Professional Edition on the branch office side connecting to a hardware firewall or VPN Tracker Server in the central office.
