The Tube knows what's on...
The Tube offers various options for integrating your preferred electronic program guide. The Tube has a plug-in system that allows you to use different TV listing accounts in different countries.
If you're in the States The Tube comes with the optional US electronic program guide (EPG) of Perc Data. This fully featured TV guide allows US users to create several channel lineups based on their zip code and TV provider.
You're one of those happy Australians that receive free-to-air HDTV with The Tube? Then you can use your IceTV account for importing the electronic program guide. If you don't have one yet, you'll get a free one-month trial.
The Tube uses EPG data for several features: to get an overview of all the running shows beside each TV channel, within the "EPG" button as a list to scroll through, in the description of each recording in your library and so on.
But there are several other ways to benefit from that data: Send TV tips to your friends, create a new iCal entry to get a reminder as soon as the show starts and much more.
When using The Tube within European countries to receive digital terrestrial television (DTT), The Tube provides you with direct and free access to all TV listings provided by the broadcasters. Most of them update their listings several times each day via digital free-to-air TV signals (Freeview).
The Tube can display more information about a currently running or upcoming show: Whether you're in the "Channels" or "EPG" view, you can select "Show Details" to view a short description of the selected program. The Tube also includes a free 3 month trial for the TV Movie listings guide, Europe's toughest film critics. After the trial period, you can purchase a TV Movie Flat Rate (valid for 2 or 12 months) for use with The Tube, on your iPhone or on your iPad (TV Movie apps and Flat Rate are available in the iTunes App Store).
The Tube lists the TV program chronologically. In order to look for a particular show you only have to start typing in the name and The Tube immediately starts presenting the results - just like Spotlight. With every additional character you type, the results are filtered until you've found exactly the show you were looking for. To only view the program of one specific channel, you can simply click on the name of the channel (e.g. "Eurosport").
