When connecting via IPsec VPN to a FritzBox, the error message:“No Proposal chosen (Phase 1)” often appears on the first connection attempt.
This behavior also occurs with the official Windows client for the FritzBox. The connection usually succeeds without problems on the second attempt. We assume that AVM will no longer fix this error, as development is increasingly focused on WireGuard.
Our recommendation: Set up new FritzBox VPN connections directly with WireGuard and import them into VPN Tracker. WireGuard offers significantly better performance than the IPsec-based FritzBox connections with the same internet connection. VPN Tracker supports WireGuard on Mac, iPhone, and iPad.
