Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a VPN connection that already works for a colleague in VPN Tracker?
Yes. If a colleague already has the VPN connection working in VPN Tracker, it is often easiest to use that verified connection instead of recreating all technical settings manually. This is especially helpful in schools or organizations where the VPN setup was originally configured for Windows or SecuExtender and individual users need to connect from a Mac.
In VPN Tracker, a working connection can be shared through the team features. This gives other team members the same verified configuration, so they do not have to guess the gateway address, VPN protocol, Pre-Shared Key, identifiers, remote network, or Phase 1 / Phase 2 settings. The guide share VPN connections with VPN Tracker Team explains how to share VPN connections with VPN Tracker Team.
As a first step, the colleague whose VPN connection already works should select the connection in VPN Tracker and share it with the team. The administrator or support team can then review the setup and make it available to other users. If your organization uses VPN Tracker Team, this is usually the cleanest way to roll out a working school or company VPN configuration to multiple Mac users.
If you still run into issues, you can always contact our support team. The easiest way is directly in VPN Tracker via Help > Contact Support, because this makes it easier to include relevant connection and diagnostic information.
