Which IPsec/IKEv1 engine should I use?
VPN Tracker on macOS supports two different IPsec/IKEv1 engines. Unless you have a specific reason, we recommend using the modern engine.
- Modern engine:
- Offers improved support for Fritz!Box devices.
- Offers improved support for SonicWall devices.
- Is actively maintained and will receive more improvements in the future.
- Legacy engine:
- Has been the default in VPN Tracker up to version 26.1.
- Will not receive new features.
