Frequently Asked Questions
Why can’t I connect to World Connect on airplane Wi-Fi?
Some airplane Wi-Fi networks only permit specific types of internet traffic, such as web browsing, email, or messaging. They may block the VPN connection World Connect requires to protect your internet traffic.
First, complete the airline Wi-Fi sign-in or payment process and check that you can open a regular website. Then try connecting World Connect again.
If websites work but World Connect still cannot connect, the onboard Wi-Fi is most likely blocking VPN traffic. This restriction is controlled by the airline or its internet provider and cannot usually be resolved by changing settings in World Connect.
If the airline offers another Wi-Fi network or service plan, you can try switching to it. Otherwise, you may need to use the onboard internet without World Connect or wait until another network is available.
If World Connect also fails on other, unrestricted Wi-Fi networks, contact support via Help > Contact Support. This is the easiest way to provide relevant connection and diagnostic information.
